About the Book

In recent years, there has been a resurgence of interest in personality traits. Psychologists increasingly are coming to recognize the need for a more comprehensive personality theory. Important work is also being done on cognitive prototypes. These developments suggest the importance of a well-grounded personality typology for both theoretical and applied psychology.

In this book, Alan Miller reinterprets a number of venerable personality dimensions in light of contemporary research and formulates a new typology that is both comprehensive and elegant. The practical utility of the model is illustrated by extensive use of case studies and by applying it to common problems in clinical, vocational/educational and environmental psychology.
