Social and Labour Market Aspects of North American Linkages General Editor: Richard Harris Canadian Studies |
|||||
|
About the Book While there is a broad consensus that North American economic
integration has benefits for Canadiansí standard of living, there are also concerns that deeper economic integration
may restrict Canadaís ability to pursue domestic goals in a number of important areas. To address these issues,
Industry Canada and the former Human Resources Development Canada jointly commissioned original research for a
Workshop on Social and Labour Market Aspects of North American Linkages. This volume contains the research papers,
comments and panel proceedings from the Workshop.
About the Author Richard G. Harris is the Telus Professor of Economics at Simon
Fraser University, and a former Fellow of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research. His major area of
specialization is international economics, in particular the economics of integration. During the 1980s he worked
extensively on economic modeling of the impact of the CanadañU.S. Free Trade Agreement and subsequently on NAFTA.
He has published widely on CanadañU.S. free trade, international macro-economics, economic growth, the Asia Pacific
region, and Canadian public policy.
