Concepts of Culture: Edited by Adam Muller Cultural Studies |
||||
About the Book How do we define “culture?” In this volume, Adam Muller brings together contributions from established and emerging scholars in a number of different disciplines who each examine the concept of culture as it is understood and deployed within their respective fields. Readers will be shown how discussions of education, art, film, globalization, human values, history, and community each depend on a series of assumptions about what culture is and how it works. The diverse views of the contributors demonstrate the advantage of, and need for, rigorous and dynamic interdisciplinarity in the study of culture, its causes, and its effects. Contributors include such distinguished scholars as Jacques Barzun and Martha Nussbaum.
About the Author Adam Muller is an assistant professor of Literary and Cultural Studies and the Director of the English Multimedia Lab at the University of Manitoba.
