My Own Places: By Don Kerr Poetry |
||||
About the Book My Own Places: Poems on John Constable is a collection of 57 poems from prominent Saskatchewan writer Don Kerr, inspired by renowned landscape painter John Constable (1776-1837). The poems vary from short, imagistic lyrics to longer narratives, for a multi-perspective look at the painter and his work. Incorporating colour photographs, Constable’s own letters, and descriptions of the painter from other historical material, Kerr constructs a close reading of landscape painting that engages literary imagination with visual art, for a unique portrait of this world-famous artist.
About the Author Don Kerr is a prominent western Canadian writer who has published plays, poetry, and short stories in addition to editing the literary magazines GRAIN and NeWest Review. Most recently he has taught drama in the English department at the University of Saskatchewan.
