About the Author Dr. Elizabeth Montes Garcés is Assistant
Professor in the Department of French, Italian and Spanish at the University of Calgary. She was the
secretary of the Canadian Association of Hispanists from 2003 until 2005, and has been very involved in
organizing the 39th, 40th , and 41st edition of the CAH congress, in addition to presenting papers at
numerous conferences in the U.S., Canada and Latin America. Her area of expertise is Latin American
womenís writing.
