About the Book
Meant to complement the previous publication, A
Catalogue of the Manuscripts in the Irving Layton Collection, Concordia
University, this volume serves to organize and describe the 7,000
letters, tapes and photographs in the Layton archival collection in order
to make them accessible to researchers and scholars. The letters have
been grouped into categories depending on the nature of the correspondence:
professional, personal and family. The catalogue also describes seventy
sets of audio cassettes, videos and reel-to-reel tapes, and ninety sets
of photographs. The cassettes are mainly tapes of interviews, poetry readings
and symposia, although there is the occasional tape in which Irving Layton
himself is the topic of conversation. The photographs include pictures
of the poet, his family, friends and professional associates.
