The University of Calgary Press publishes scholarly journals under its imprint. Before acceptance by the Press, imprint journals are assessed by the Editorial Board of the Press against universally accepted scholarly standards, particularly with regard to the mode of operation of each journal's editorial processes. Journals are formally reassessed every five years to assure the continuing maintenance of accepted standards.
Therefore, the UC Press imprint is a sign to readers that the journal has been vetted and found to be a credible source of scholarly research and information. With the continuing explosion of information, readers benefit from easily recognizable signs of credibility. UC Press journals program also provides a broad range of publishing services: copyediting, layout, printing and binding, subscription maintenance, etc.
As well, UC Press is now able to assist its imprint journals to publish online through the use of open source technology. University of Calgary is a partner with the Canadian Synergies project. As such, UC Press strongly recommends the use of the PKP-OJS (Public Knowledge Project - Open Journal System) platform for its electronic journal publication program. |
