The Industry Canada Research Series is intended to provide a forum for the analysis of key micro-economic challenges facing the Canadian economy. The volumes are also designed to contribute to the debate surrounding applied public policy in this area, and ultimately aid in constructive determination of public policy in our rapidly changing economic environment.

The research volumes draw together work by several authors on diverse aspects of a given micro-economic theme. Industry Canada appoints distinguished academics to act as general editors; they, in turn, select experts in their fields to prepare draft papers on identified issues. The papers are presented and subjected to peer review at a conference attended by representatives invited from the business, legal, and academic communities as well as government organizations. The proceedings of the conferences are subsequently published.
