Mount Logan - The Top of Canada is an AMTECH 2001 AWARD winning, interactive CD-ROM developed to provide information about Canada's highest mountain. Mount Logan has been the focal point of AINA (Arctic Institute of North America) research and of many on-going scientific and mountaineering expeditions.
The CD-ROM documents the latest research being conducted as well as interesting historical information. It will be of particular interest to individuals in the areas of geology/geophysics, glaciology, education, mountaineering and outdoor pursuits. However, the beautiful imagery and personal style in which the information is conveyed will also pique the interest of general users.

Contents, Volume 1

Chapter 1: Prehistoric times to the 1891
Chapter 2: Interlude: Sir William E. Logan
Chapter 3: Exploration: 1892 to 1945
Chapter 4: Exploration and ascents: 1950 to the present
Chapter 5: Topographic and geodetic surveys and the height of Mount Logan

The content of the Mount Logan program was provided by Gerald Holdsworth who is a research associate at the Arctic Institute of North America (also located on the UC campus). After graduating in civil engineering, Dr. Holdsworth became fascinated by the mountains and glaciers. He then switched his focus to the study of geology and glaciology, obtaining a Ph.D. in Geology/Geophysics in 1969. He has since studied under a fellowship at the Institute of Polar Studies (now the Byrd Polar Research Centre), worked for the Glaciology subdivision of the Dept. of Energy, Mines and Resources (Ottawa) and spent 6 years at the National Hydrology Research Institute in Calgary. In addition to all of this, Gerald has spent all the time he could spare on or near Mount Logan.
