A Transgendered Journey - Workplace and Lifestyle Management captures a positive perspective on a transgendered experience. Dr. Teri Jane Ursacki, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Management at the University of Calgary, discusses her personal journey through the mostly uncharted and often harrowing process of male to female gender reassignment. Dr. Ursacki presents her background and how she came to make her decision. She candidly discusses all the steps involved from surgical procedures to electrolysis, counselling and preparing family, friends and associates.

This presentation addresses the following issues

  • How the media deals with gender reassignment
  • Biases of those in the helping professions
  • How organizations/workplaces can support these individuals with the development of human resource policies
  • Importance of the "real-life" test - to prepare for a change of this magnitude
  • Views on sexual expression
